Weekly Recap

Sim Update 5 is now available on all platforms! This is the largest update to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 yet and includes many exciting new features and thousands of bug fixes and improvements. For an overview of the highlights in SU5, you can read our article here. Updates in SU5 include:

PS® VR2 on PS5 and PS5 Pro
Optimizations and performance improvements
Weather Radar upgrades
More Career Mode Specializations unlocked
Plus thousands of bug fixes and much more!

We would once again like to thank all the volunteer testers from the community who participated in the public beta for SU5. Your bug reports and feedback posts were extremely valuable in helping us deliver the best possible SU5 experience!

With the release of Sim Update 5, the highly-requested addition of Creator content on PS5 has begun. As of today, the following products are available:

B390 from Carenado
Cessna Citation X from MSFS Presents FlightFX
HJet HA420 from FlightFX
Piaggio P.180 Avanti II from FlightFX

We look forward to welcoming additional content on the PS5 Marketplace as we get more creator approvals.

Following shortly from today’s release of SU5 will be Aircraft & Avionics Update 04. This update is scheduled to launch on Tuesday, May 5 and will include updated native MSFS 2024 versions of the highly versatile Antonov An-2, our Expert Series 01 ATR 42-600/72-600, the classic Fokker F.VII, the beautiful French Latécoère 631, and the Savoia-Marchetti S.55/S.55X. Existing owners of these aircraft will receive this upgrade for free in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Community Fly-In Friday

Put on a fancy hat and mix yourself a mint julep because it’s Derby Weekend! For our Community Fly-In Friday event this week, we’re off to Louisville, Kentucky which is hosting the world’s most famous horse race on Saturday, the renowned Kentucky Derby!

We’ll depart from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio and then have a touch & go landing in Cincinnati. From there, we’ll tour the Bluegrass State with stops at Lexington and Fort Knox before we visit the Churchill Downs racetrack and then have our full stop landing at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, named for the champion boxer commonly known as “The Greatest” who is originally from the area.

Optional Payware Add-on: Simmers may choose to buy or rent the “KSDF Louisville International Airport” by developer FSDreamTeam. As the worldwide hub for UPS’s cargo operations, KSDF is a major air traffic center in the region. This purchase is entirely optional and is not required to join this fly-in.
