Welcome back to another Weekly Briefing! As we announced last week, the team remains hard at work on Sim Update 5 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We are targeting the public beta to begin soon. As always, keep an eye on our official forums for details about how to join the beta once it’s available.

For PlayStation 5 simmers, some players from the community have recently created a new subreddit specifically for PS5 MSFS users. Some players in this subreddit have also started organizing group flights specifically for PS5 simmers! If you’re a Reddit user and would like to converse with other PS5 players, you can find this new subreddit at r/MSFlightSimulatorPS5.

A reminder that registration for the upcoming Bravo Alpha Romeo (B.A.R.) event this weekend in the Netherlands is now open! See the Community section below for more details. Additionally, another community member from Texas has posted a “save the date” announcement for a B.A.R. event in Dallas on February 21 at the American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum. We’ll have more details about the Dallas event in a future Weekly Update! If you would like to get involved in organizing your own B.A.R. event in your local area, join the Discord server to see how you can get involved in creating a meet-up with fellow flight sim enthusiasts!

Community Fly-In Friday

Most of our Fly-In Friday events are cross-country flights between points A and B, but every now and then we like to mix things up a bit by flying a non-typical aircraft type or a tour of one specific city/location.

This week will be the latter type of fly-in. We’ll be touring Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, in powered parachutes! Joining our guest panel of co-hosts will be “flyndive” who you may know as a third-party add-on developer (Flyndive Simulations) whose products include the Paramotor 2.0 for MSFS 2020 and 2024!

Also on our panel this week will be “Forder1702” who recently hosted a tutorial session on how to fly powered parachute. You can watch the VOD of this lesson here.

We will be starting at LPPT. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

Regular Community Fly-Ins: If you’re looking to join in with group flights, or even host your own, the best place to begin is via our dedicated Forum category. With a whole host of groups organising regular events, there’s something for everyone! Find more details here.

The Netherlands will be the host country for the second B.A.R event, and the first of 2026. The B.A.R. event will be held during Flightsim Fest, which means that there will be additional activities, next to the meet up.

- Try out one (or more) of 17 flightsim setups with hardware provide by Honeycomb, Thrustmaster, Turtle Beach, MOZA, DOF Reality and Pimax. There is something for everyone (from couchpotato to thrill seeker)
- Compete in landing challenges and the Red Bull Air Race to compete for great prizes

YouTuber FlightSim Experience has once again provided a stunningly immersive video, with this tour of the famous “Mach Loop” in the Eurofighter Typhoon jet. Even including an air-to-air fuel top up, we’ve watched this video more than once since its upload earlier this week!
