Weekly Recap

Happy new year 2026! We hope everyone had a safe, relaxing, and joyous holiday period, and we’re thrilled to kick off a new year of flight simming with you! We’ve got plenty of exciting things planned for 2026, with Sim Update 5 being first on the list. The SU5 public beta is targeted to begin in the coming weeks, so keep watching this space for more information if you’d like to join and help test the next major update to MSFS 2024!

In case you missed it, our final livestream of 2025 was hosting an event in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024‘s new Red Bull Air Race mode featuring MSFS Community Managers Chewwy94 and SeedyL in competition against some of your favorite flight sim personalities from Twitch and YouTube including AvAngel, Grizzle, Jeff Favignano, Twotonemurphy, and Ultrasaurus. The races featured intense competition, skilled piloting, hilarious commentary (particularly from Murph during his runs), and of course some good-natured trash talk amongst the racers. Community Fly-In Friday

Happy new year! For our first Fly-In Friday event of 2026, we’re off to Northern Africa for a scenic flight over historic and scenic Morocco. We’ll be visiting cities including Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, and Fez.

Regular Community Fly-Ins: If you’re looking to join in with group flights, or even host your own, the best place to begin is via our dedicated Forum category. With a whole host of groups organising regular events, there’s something for everyone! Find more details here.

The Netherlands will be the host country for the second B.A.R event, and the first of 2026. The B.A.R. event will be held during Flightsim Fest, which means that there will be additional activities, next to the meet up.

- Try out one (or more) of 17 flightsim setups with hardware provide by Honeycomb, Thrustmaster, Turtle Beach, MOZA, DOF Reality and Pimax. There is something for everyone (from couchpotato to thrill seeker)
- Compete in landing challenges and the Red Bull Air Race to compete for great prizes

- Check out the extensive program with talks. We have planned something for everyone; from beginner (where to start) to more expert (how to use the A320 auto pilot properly)

Our first community video of 2026 features SD Falchetti, who showcases a challenging approach during a flight into the new Cheat River Island scenery by development team Parallel 42. After landing they switch to Avatar Mode for a walk around this new scenery!
