May 9th, 2024 – Development Update

This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Forum user HolmesCZ6127! If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below!

On Tuesday, we announced that Sim Update 15 will be delayed for a little longer while the team works to resolve a few remaining issues which we consider release blockers. Delivering a Sim Update of very high quality is extremely important to us, so we are taking a bit of extra time to make sure SU_15 will be positively received by simmers.

Also on Tuesday, we released a new pre-release test build to those players enrolled in the optional SU_15 public beta. You can read the release notes for this build (1.37.17.0) on our forums here. Notably, this build includes a bug fix for players on PC using DX12 which was previously causing some airport ground scenery to display improperly. This build also includes a fix to a bug introduced in the 1.37.15.0 test build which impacted players on Xbox by preventing add-on aircraft which use WASM from functioning correctly.

As always, we would like to thank all the volunteer testers from the community for your feedback and bug reports. Whether you’re helping to test SU_15 or using the current release build, we wish everyone a great weekend in the virtual skies. Happy flying!

Community Fly-In Friday

The Community Fly-In Friday World Tour continues!

This week, we continue our voyage along Africa’s picturesque Mediterranean coast as we bid farewell to Morocco and cross the border into Algeria. Our flight will end at Oran, Algeria’s second-largest city and an important commercial and industrial center.

Touch & go landings en route include Al Hoceima and Oujda in Morocco, Melilla (an autonomous city of Spain), and Es Sénia in Algeria.

Event details are available here. All are welcome to participate!

Community Video

We join both TheFlightDoc and AlphaOriginals for our community video choice of the week, as they collaborate as co-pilots for a VATSIM flight in the Airbus A320neo from Ibiza to London Luton!

The pressure was on TheFlightDoc, with this trip being their first experience on the VATSIM network, but with expert guidance from AlphaOriginals, this duo made it look easy.

We love this collaboration between two great content creators, and hope to see more in the future!
