Bolzano, located in northern Italy 30 miles south of the Austrian, is the capital of the South Tyrol region of Italy. The city, founded as a Roman military station in 15 BCE, is widely called the “Gateway to the Dolomites,” a famously beautiful subrange of the Alps.
Cagliari is the capital and most populous city on Sardinia, Italy’s second largest island after Sicily.
