October 22nd, 2026 MSFS Weekly Briefing

Weekly Recap

On Friday of last week we released a new beta test build for Sim Update 7.1 (v1.9.20.0). This test build enables Time Trials in the National Championship Air Racing mode and also resolves a few issues introduced with Sim Update 7, including a fix for a bug which caused aircraft drag to be modeled incorrectly. You can read the full release notes for this build on our forums here. The Production Team is aiming for the full release of SU7.1 to all simmers in the very near future.

The team is also preparing for our next Developer Livestream to be broadcast on our official Twitch channel in November (stay tuned for the exact date and time). If you would like to pre-submit a question to the panel of Jorg, Seb, and Martial, you can do so by completing the form at this link.

Finally, last week we had the immense privilege of hosting a roundtable discussion panel with five real National Championship Air Races (NCAR) pilots to discuss air racing both in the real world and in the newly-released NCAR mode for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The race pilots participating in our panel were:

  • Tammy Camilleri – Jet Class – Miss Independance
  • Rod Hewitt – STOL Drag Class – Angry Kitten
  • Steven Hinton Jr. – Unlimited Class – Bardahl Special
  • Greg McNeely – T-6 Class – Undecided
  • Tommy Suell – Biplane Class – Shake N Bake

If you missed the broadcast, you can watch the VOD on our YouTube channel here:

Community Fly-In Friday

We’re back this Friday to continue our circumnavigation tour as we make our way across the North American continent! We’ll depart from Seattle, fly over the majestic Rocky Mountains, have a touch & go landing at Calgary, fly across the American heartland for a landing in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and then continue on to Chicago where we’ll stop at Meigs Field, an airport beloved by many longtime MSFS fans! Optionally, pilots may choose to land at Chicago-O’Hare (KORD) instead.

Lots of PC players are excited for the imminent release of the hotly anticipated Boeing 757-200 by BlueBird Simulations for MSFS (2020) and MSFS 2024! With the embargo now lifted for pre-release content creation, Mr Saturday has created one of the best trailer videos we think we’ve ever seen. This is definitely worth a watch!
