Release Notes – Sim Update 3 [1.5.27.0] Now Available | MSFS 2024

If you are playing on PC, outdated packages in your community folder may have an unexpected impact on the title’s performance and behavior.

If you suffer from stability issues or long loading times, move your community package(s) to another folder before relaunching the title.

New Content and Features

  • Added filters in controls settings menu
  • Added loading spinner when aircraft are loading
  • Do not display Helipad/port markers when flying a plane
  • Reworked character / fauna / airport graphic settings for more coherence between platforms
  • Added ForceFlare parameter to LightAttributes section of FX files
  • Added fade in on images for Marketplace item, Profile, Briefing, Activities, HQ, Home, Career, Challenges, Controls, Install, Red Bull
  • It is now possible to click and drag on all the sliders of the game

Stability & Performance

  • Fixed an Xbox crash on boot when too many packages are loaded.
  • Fixed crash occurring sometimes on Xbox during boot if application is suspended
  • Optimized boot and loading times
  • Reduced VRAM consumption used by company name textures
  • Fixed crash on boot if content.xml was invalid XML. Content.xml file will be reset in this case.

Install, Performance & Graphics

  • Exposure Bias parameter is now available on Xbox.
  • ‘Frame Rate Limiter’ has been renamed to ‘V-Sync Interval’ with an updated description that better clarifies its purpose.
    • Added the ability to cap frame rate via a new setting in the options menu.
  • Split the new LOD curve (max vertex count vs vertical screen size) in two parts: linear from 0% to 100%, parabolic above 100%. This means more vertices than before for sizes up to 100% and the same amount for above 100%.
  • The aim is to help developers create less detailed LODs by letting them use more vertices than before.
  • Activated the new LOD curve as the default one.

Backwards Compatibility Bug Fixes

  • Fixed FXs brightness.
  • Fixed UV length not being computed correctly when glTF geometry is reused (avoids blurry textures from models coming from 2020 packages)
  • Fixed loading of bitmaps found in 2020 packages that haven’t been properly compiled through the package builder (no DDS, no JSON) when those packages are installed in the Community folder (fixes some aircraft lights)

Aircraft

  • Added aerodynamic interaction between tornado and aircraft.
  • Fixed pilot visible in cabin when outside as avatar with 2020 aircraft (cannot worked if the pilot’s visibility is modified by the aircraft’s behavior)
  • Fixed an issue where “Product capacity” specification would display 0 lb in the selector
  • Added a “Freelance” tag in the livery.cfg of all aircraft to automatically filter liveries easily in the career
  • Intensity of roof lights increased on AT802
  • Intensity of landing and taxi lights increased on B737
  • Intensity of spotlights and strobe lights increased on C172

  • Aircraft configurator camera position has been tweaked to let the whole aircraft and especially the nose to be in the windows.

  • Airline Passenger Transport][Regression] In career, skipping from taxi to takeoff
  • drops all the had been set up in FMS and selected on the flight control panel.

  • In career activity using the skip function from taxi to takeoff, the FMS resets and

  • After landing at KLAX and coming out of reverse for taxi speed, the TCAS calls
  • out Traffic Traffic…Clear of conflict. This mode should be inhibited on the
  • ground.
  • Immediately after takeoff, Cabin pressure exceedance warning and ECAM
  • revealed the cabin was at 30,000′ when climbing through 2000′.
  • Upon reaching cruise altitude with Throttles in CLB, the Autothrottles mode is
  • removed, and the speed is not maintained with FMS speed. The ATHR should
  • not be deselected automatically.

SDK

  • Decals are now supported on SSS materials.
  • Added VOR facility flags to BGLExplorer.
  • Fixed block compressed textures, with dimensions which are not multiples of 4, silently failing to load because they do not respect the DirectX spec.
  • Added an error message when trying to load such textures.
  • Building them with the DevMode should already fail in FS2024, but FS2020 packages could be built even with the wrong dimensions.
  • Fixed crash when building compiled model behaviors
  • Added ProcessingOptions parameter block for model processing. Moved MergeSkins option in that block and added ResetRig and RemoveSkinnedCollision here too.
  • MergeSkins will automatically merge all skins in gltf sharing common bone(s)
  • ResetRig will automatically rescale and re-orient badly setuped rigs for characters or fauna models and associated animations.
  • RemoveSkinnedCollision will automatically remove any skinned mesh during RPT since this is not supported in game.

SimVars

  • Added SIMVAR_ATC_NEXT_WAYPOINT_ALTITUDE which indicates the altitude of the next waypoint of the flightpath
  • Added SIMVAR_ATC_WAYPOINTS_HIGHEST_ALTITUDE which indicates the highest altitude of all the waypoints of the flightpath
  • Simvar AIRCRAFT_OBJECT_CLASS no longer goes through the same filter as UI filters and returns the raw value (or generated one if unspecified) from the cfg (still uses OTHER if container is unavailable)
  • Added EX1 variants of all INTERACTIVE POINTS SimVars, those are only processed if the index or name parameter is valid
  • Regression on EXIT and INTERACTIVE POINTS SimVars had been fixed but they were reverted to their SU2 behavior so that aircraft doors that rely on the regression can work again
