Introduction to the MSFS Marketplace

Note for PlayStation Users: The Marketplace currently has only 1st party products. We plan to open it in the future for 3rd party products.

What is the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace?

The Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace is a fully integrated in-simulator store that allows players to purchase and directly download a wide variety of first- and third-party add-ons without the need for external installations. Not all add-ons are available on console, and some are PC-only.

In addition to free premium content like World and City Updates, the Marketplace features Microsoft’s popular Local Legend and Famous Flyer aircraft series. Players can also explore a vast collection of third-party developer add-ons to further enhance their flight experience.

The Marketplace not only provides a convenient and seamless way to expand the simulator with compatible add-ons, but also serves as a direct storefront for third-party developers, increasing visibility for their products within the MSFS community.

Regular Marketplace Updates

The Marketplace is updated twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays) with new releases and product updates. All Marketplace purchases can be managed through your FS Library in MSFS 2024.

This gives you full control over your simulator content.

Seamless Purchase Transfers to MSFS 2024

Players who have purchased add-ons in the MSFS 2020 Marketplace can transfer all purchases to MSFS 2024 simply by signing in with the same Xbox Live account.

Important Note: This carryover process may not be immediately available, but the content should appear a few hours after the first login. By default, MSFS (2020) DLC is disabled. Go to Marketplace → My Library to enable the content for use.

What Type of Products Can I Find in the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace?

Marketplace
Aircraft

One of the most popular categories in the Marketplace, the Aircraft section offers a wide range of planes to add to your virtual hangar. Whether you’re looking for complex, high-fidelity airliners, helicopters, general aviation aircraft, or even historical warbirds, there’s something for everyone. In addition to hundreds of third-party products, Microsoft regularly releases “Local Legend” and “Famous Flyer” aircraft. A notable example is the Antonov AN-225, where all proceeds from its first year of sales were donated to the Antonov Company after the real-world aircraft was tragically destroyed in February 2022.

Liveries

Liveries is the term used for paint schemes that can be applied to aircraft within the simulator. These come in an array of possibilities via the Microsoft Flight Simulator in-sim Marketplace. You may find bundles of realistic liveries, replicating the real-world schemes of airlines, or fictional paints. Always make sure to cross-check that the livery package you are installing with the aircraft product they are made for, as most liveries will only work with a specific product.

Airports

The Airport section provides enhanced airport sceneries around the world. Microsoft regularly releases free World and City Updates, which include detailed handcrafted airport renditions. Since the launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator in August 2020, third-party developers have created high-definition versions of thousands of airports around the world, from small general aviation strips to major international hubs.

Scenery

The Scenery section allows players to enhance their surroundings with a range of products like upgraded cityscapes and landmarks worldwide. Microsoft regularly releases free World and City Updates, which include upgraded satellite photogrammetry, and Triangular Irregular Networks (TIN) for cities.

Utilities

In addition to aircraft and scenery, the Marketplace offers a variety of utility add-ons that enhance the overall experience. These include tools like Airshow Assistants that spawn AI aircraft to simulate formation flying, as well as flight planning tools and much more.

Miscellaneous

The Marketplace also hosts an array of addons that you may not expect to see in a Flight Simulation title, such as an offroad pickup truck, or products that can further allow players to widen their imagination and immersion with products such as the Campout Utility by Parallel 42.
